Build a bibliography from DOIs

Paste a whole list of DOIs or article links. The tool looks up bibliographic metadata from CrossRef and returns a structured table you can export to BibTeX, RIS or CSV. No sign-in.

This tool does not download full text. It reads public bibliographic metadata only. Copyrighted PDFs come from your library or directly from the authors, which is both the legal route and usually a faster one than people expect.

What it is for

  • Not typing a reference list by hand. Everyone writing a thesis has to do it and nobody enjoys it. Paste the DOIs, download the .ris, load it straight into EndNote or Zotero.
  • Triaging a list before you chase full text. The table shows authors, year and journal, so you can tell which papers are actually worth tracking down.
  • Turning a messy list into a table. Export CSV and sort by year or by journal in Excel.

Frequently asked

Does this download the PDF?

No. It reads public bibliographic metadata from CrossRef only: authors, title, journal, year, pages, DOI. Copyrighted full text still comes from your library, your institution subscription, or the authors themselves. Authors are free to send a personal copy to a colleague who asks.

Why did one of my links return nothing?

Because that link carries no DOI. Wiley, SAGE and Springer usually put the DOI in the URL, so those resolve. A ScienceDirect PII link does not, and there is no free PII to DOI mapping. Open the paper, copy its DOI line, and paste that instead.

Is what I paste stored anywhere?

No. This page runs entirely in your browser. The DOI list goes straight to CrossRef, never through a Phở server, and nothing survives closing the tab.

Which formats can I export?

BibTeX (.bib) for LaTeX and Overleaf, RIS (.ris) for EndNote, Zotero and Mendeley, and CSV to open in Excel.

What comes after the list

A bibliography is the easy part. The slow part of a review is screening against criteria, extracting evidence and building a comparison table. Phở Chat does that on the list you just built, with real citations and an explicit note when something cannot be verified.
