If you are weighing SciSpace against Phở Chat, or searching for a SciSpace alternative for finding papers, reading articles and writing literature reviews, this comparison is based on verified public data (as of 11 July 2026), including the areas where SciSpace does better than we do.
What SciSpace is and where it shines
SciSpace (formerly Typeset.io, renamed in May 2022) is an all-in-one research platform: Literature Review with Deep Review, Chat with PDF, AI Writer, Extract Data, Paraphraser, Citation Generator, and a library of more than 2,000 prebuilt agents. Their most valuable legacy is the manuscript formatting infrastructure, with over 100,000 journal templates from the Typeset era. If you write in English and need to submit in the exact format of a specific journal, this is where SciSpace excels.
SciSpace advertises a corpus of 200 to 300 million papers depending on the page (self-reported by the vendor, aggregated largely from open indexes such as Semantic Scholar and OpenAlex, the same sources many other tools share).
Quick comparison table

| Manuscript writing | AI Writer + 100,000 journal templates | Structured answers with citations; Vietnamese-standard thesis templates in development 🟡 |

What you should know about SciSpace credits
According to SciSpace’s official documentation, credits are only consumed by the Agent, each task costs roughly 24 to 217 credits depending on complexity, and unused credits do not roll over to the next cycle. The 1,200-credit Premium plan works out to roughly 6 heavy literature searches per month, and SciSpace itself notes this number “can run out in just a few heavy sessions”. Two users on the same plan can have very different experiences. This is not a flaw as such, but it is something you should know before you pay.
When to choose SciSpace
You write English manuscripts for international journals and need per-journal formatting templates. You want a library of prebuilt agents for the small repetitive steps of the research workflow. You do not need Vietnamese and you do not mind a variable credit model.
When Phở Chat is the better fit
You need to know which source backs each sentence in the answer: Phở applies cite-or-abstain, and any sentence without a real source is labelled “unverified” instead of fabricated. You want predictable cost instead of guessing whether this month’s credits will last: a fixed annual price (Starter $49.99/year, Pro $99.99/year), plus the option to bring your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek or xAI API key (BYOK) and pay the provider directly with zero markup. And if you work in Vietnamese, Phở answers with correct medical and academic terminology, paid via VietQR at local prices.
An honest note: the SciSpace figures come from the vendor’s public pages as of 11 July 2026 and may change. Phở’s groundedness metric is measured on our own academic eval, and we publish the methodology. We update this page periodically.
